　　2020年12月5日-6日，WSC世界學(xué)者杯寧波區(qū)域賽在寧波華茂國(guó)際學(xué)校順利舉辦！寧波、杭州、南京、廣州、常州、合肥、金華等各地的國(guó)際學(xué)校的學(xué)生齊聚華茂校園，為大家獻(xiàn)上了一場(chǎng)精彩的學(xué)術(shù)嘉年華。作為本場(chǎng)賽事的承辦方，寧波華茂國(guó)際學(xué)校積極籌備，從場(chǎng)地、人員、防疫檢測(cè)等方面對(duì)賽事進(jìn)行了全方位支持。

賽事簡(jiǎn)介

　　“世界學(xué)者杯“起源于美國(guó)，是一個(gè)國(guó)際綜合學(xué)術(shù)競(jìng)技比賽，比賽語(yǔ)言要求全英文。該比賽獲得了耶魯大學(xué)的官方支持，世界學(xué)者杯是每年全球范圍舉行的學(xué)術(shù)賽事，吸引了來(lái)自全世界各地的中小學(xué)生參加。世界學(xué)者杯每年會(huì)圍繞一個(gè)主題，通過(guò)跨學(xué)科、主題性探究式等獨(dú)特的學(xué)習(xí)方式，展開(kāi)對(duì)科學(xué)、社會(huì)學(xué)、歷史、藝術(shù)、文學(xué)、通識(shí)六大學(xué)科領(lǐng)域的深度探究與競(jìng)技，從而啟發(fā)“學(xué)者”們對(duì)不同學(xué)科興趣，培養(yǎng)團(tuán)隊(duì)合作、國(guó)際溝通、創(chuàng)新與思辨等核心素養(yǎng)，成就未來(lái)學(xué)者與領(lǐng)袖。這次比賽對(duì)于華茂的學(xué)生來(lái)說(shuō)是溝通技能的提升和知識(shí)面的拓展。比賽分為四個(gè)項(xiàng)目：Scholar’s Challange（學(xué)者挑戰(zhàn)）、Collaborative Writing(協(xié)同寫(xiě)作）、Team Debate (團(tuán)隊(duì)辯論）和Scholar’s Bowl (知識(shí)競(jìng)答）

　　開(kāi)幕式上，兩位WSC的主席給小學(xué)者們講了吉祥物Jerry的故事，“脫口秀”式的主持風(fēng)格幽默風(fēng)趣，很快讓孩子們沉浸到歡樂(lè)的學(xué)術(shù)世界。隨后，我校Cheryl和Maggie兩位校長(zhǎng)上臺(tái)與小學(xué)者們進(jìn)行了親切的問(wèn)候。

　　經(jīng)過(guò)同學(xué)們的踴躍報(bào)名，我校初中組共6支隊(duì)伍18人參賽，高中組共3支隊(duì)伍9人參賽。在這場(chǎng)盛大的學(xué)術(shù)嘉年華中，華茂學(xué)子們參加了團(tuán)隊(duì)搶答、協(xié)同創(chuàng)作、知識(shí)挑戰(zhàn)和學(xué)術(shù)辯論這四大環(huán)節(jié)。在比賽中，大家用學(xué)科知識(shí)講述觀(guān)點(diǎn)，從不同的角度看待問(wèn)題，思考、表達(dá)、呈現(xiàn)觀(guān)點(diǎn)。

　　值得一提的是，因?yàn)樵谑兹請(qǐng)F(tuán)隊(duì)辯論比賽中表現(xiàn)優(yōu)異，寧波華茂國(guó)際學(xué)校初中組學(xué)生Steffanie Reiter被邀請(qǐng)上臺(tái)為所有學(xué)生進(jìn)行辯論展示，高中組的陳宏錦被選為辯論展示評(píng)委。

　　兩天的比賽，我們的學(xué)生充分展示了自我，結(jié)交了許多新朋友。

　　最最激動(dòng)人心的時(shí)刻到來(lái)了。經(jīng)過(guò)兩天緊張激烈的角逐，同學(xué)們?cè)诟鳝h(huán)節(jié)表現(xiàn)優(yōu)異，令人驕傲的是，我校9支隊(duì)伍共獲獎(jiǎng)牌53枚！

　　再次祝賀我校學(xué)生在此次比賽中的優(yōu)異表現(xiàn)，

　　Last weekend, the World Scholars' Cup Ningbo Round was held successfully in NBHIS. 120 students from NBHIS and from as far afield as Hefei and Guangdong attended, providing our scholars with four fierce competition events in Team Debate, Collaborative Writing, Scholars' Bowl, and Scholars' Challenge. After two days of stiff competition, our students won 53 medals and with most of the NBHIS teams qualifying for China National Round that will be held from February 6th to February 9th, 2021 in Shanghai! Congratulations, scholars!

　　The World Scholars' Cup (WSC) is an international team academic program with more than 50,000 students, from over 70 countries, participating every year. Students compete in a range of tasks, including writing, debating, and even challenging others in a live quiz show. The World Scholar's Cup aims to teach students with interesting, not-taught-in-schools type lessons, and tries to find common ground between people of different statuses. It is a fantastic chance for students to showcase the skills and knowledge that they have been learning at school; to practice their English skills in a fun, competitive environment; and to win medals, trophies, and the famous WSC Alpacas. WSC is an academic feast and a friendship trip. It provides students a good opportunity to communicate with their peers around the world and also build their confidence in this event to improve their comprehensive ability.

　　The theme of WSC this year is "A World Renewed". Each participating team consists of 2-3 students, and each team participated in four standardized competition events: Scholar’s Challenge, Collaborative Writing, Team Debate and Scholars’ Bowl. Our DP Y10 team won Senior Silver Medal in Champion Teams (Qualifiers) and Junior teams also achieved good results. At the finish time, we had 6 teams qualified for China National Round!

　　Congratulations again to all of our scholars for their good performances; we hope that those who qualified will be able to continue on to the China National Round in 2021 and represent NBHIS at an even higher level! Next, our school will actively introduce more international competitions, in addition to the WSC, there are Envirothon & China Environmental Olympiad, also British Biology Olympiad (BBO), Canadian Chemistry Contest (CCC), Computational and Algorithmic Thinking (CAT), Physics Bowl (AAPT), etc. Are you ready?
