Learning for the Future, Teaching for the Future- Grade 5 Middle School Curriculum Introduction Lecture
11月9日晚,青浦協(xié)和雙語學校大劇院燈火輝煌,以“為未來而學,為未來而教”為主題的初中課程宣講會拉開了帷幕。本次宣講會采用線上線下相結(jié)合的方式進行,由校長助理兼小學部主任劉桂香主持,邀請黃瑩校長、張孜燕副校長、劉瑋老師等宣講,干貨滿滿。
On the evening of November 9th, the SUIS Qingpu Theater was brightly lit, and the Middle School Curriculum Introduction lecture, it’s theme of "Learning for the Future, Teaching for the Future", kicked off. The lecture, conducted in a blended online and offline format, was hosted by Ms. Helen Liu, Campus Assistant Principal and Head of the Primary School. Co-Principal Ms. Sunny Huang,Campus Vice-Principal Ms. Flora Zhang and Ms. Demi Liu were invited to give comprehensive introductions to our middle school programme.
首先,高中部主任助理劉瑋老師介紹了高中課程設(shè)置,展示了我校高中生近期收獲的曼切斯特大學等諸多國外高校offer,涵蓋了生物醫(yī)藥、數(shù)學、管理學、社會學以及音樂制作等,多元的專業(yè)印證了我校全人教育理念已結(jié)出碩果。
Ms. Demi Liu from our High School division introduced the high school curriculum, sharing on recent university admissions offers received by our Grade 12 students from the University of Manchester and several other overseas universities. The offers received were for a variety of courses such as biomedicine, mathematics, management, sociology and music production. These diverse majors confirm that our provision of a holistic education has served to benefit and meet the needs of all our students.
接著,張孜燕副校長從初中部培養(yǎng)目標、課程特點、升學通道等方面,詳細介紹了初中課程設(shè)置和已取得的成績。在青浦協(xié)和,初中部課程具有模塊化、階梯型、金字塔形等特點,學科之間各具特色,如英語學科重視學術(shù),采用國際測評考試;數(shù)學重視袋鼠數(shù)學競賽、AMC8、等國際數(shù)學競賽;博物館課程充分利用上海豐富的、主題鮮明的博物館資源等等。另外,我校有著12年一貫制升學通道的優(yōu)勢,有利于實現(xiàn)中西融合、和諧發(fā)展的辦學理念。初中部設(shè)立有共同基礎(chǔ)的先鋒班,八、九年級進一步細分,形成直升班(高中)、劍橋班和中考班。
Ms. Flora Zhang then introduced in detail the curriculum and achievements of the middle school from the aspects of educational goals, curriculum highlights, and further education paths. The unique middle school curriculum at SUIS Qingpu has the features of modularity, staircase-shaped teaching, and pyramid-shaped teaching. In addition, each subject has its own features. For example, the English subject attaches importance to academics and adopts international assessment examinations; mathematics attaches importance to international mathematics competitions such as the Kangaroo Mathematics Competition and AMC8; the museum course makes full use of Shanghai's rich and thematically-designed museum resources. Moreover, our school provides a K12 through-train education that harmoniously develops the integration of both Eastern and Western practices. The middle school has set up pioneer classes with a common foundation, and the eighth and ninth grades are further subdivided to form test waiver classes (high school), Cambridge assessment classes and high school entrance examination classes.
黃瑩校長以體育考試選擇游泳還是投鉛球舉例,深入淺出地為即將升入中學的五年級家長與學生指明道路:認清孩子的優(yōu)勢,揚長避短,不隨意更改賽道,更會有助于孩子獲取成功。
Using the question, “Should I choose swimming or shotput for my physical education test?” as an example, Co-Principal Sunny Huang helped to provide guidance to the students (and their parents) who are about to enter secondary school: By recognizing their children's strengths, emphasizing their strengths and helping them avoid their weaknesses, parents can better help their children prepare for the future.
家長們認真聆聽,不時微笑點頭。宣講會最后環(huán)節(jié),大家線上線下積極互動,并提出了初中如何分班、高中入學評估、國際升學課程設(shè)置、中考班學生數(shù)、名額分配等熱點問題,校長們都一一做了詳細回答。
In the final part of the lecture, parents and members from our team actively interacted both online and offline, raising issues such as how classes were divided, the number of students in the high school entrance examination class, and the allocation of students. Our principals ensured that all questions were answered in detail.
本次宣講會是今年學生升學與發(fā)展規(guī)劃系列行動的開端,作為一所12年一貫制的學校,我們將在此次會議基礎(chǔ)上進一步做好家校溝通,力求在滿足所有家長共性需求的同時,做好個性化咨詢服務(wù),為孩子的未來升學與發(fā)展做好規(guī)劃。
As a K12 school, we will further improve in home-school communication and strive to meet the common needs of all parents, while doing a good job of providing individual guidance for each and every student to help them best prepare for their future education and development.
