The International Students Section Held the New School Year OpeningCeremony

　　秋風(fēng)送爽，煥發(fā)新機。2019年9月2日，北京市第五十五中學(xué)國際部學(xué)生部在報告廳隆重舉辦秋季開學(xué)典禮,開啟新學(xué)年的美好篇章。

　　Like the first autumn wind that sends a cool, refreshing breeze, bringing with it a new season, on September 2nd, 2019, the teachers at the International Students Section gathered in the lecture hall to hold the opening ceremony for the fall semester, beginning a new, beautiful chapter at our school.

　　開學(xué)典禮由國際學(xué)生部田潔萍主任主持。陳紅校長首先代表學(xué)校為新學(xué)期開學(xué)典禮致辭。在講話中陳校長肯定了上學(xué)期學(xué)校在國際文憑專業(yè)建設(shè)、國際化教學(xué)、中國傳統(tǒng)文化推廣等方面取得的各項成績，向全體學(xué)生提出了幾點希望，勉勵同學(xué)們在新學(xué)期勤奮學(xué)習(xí)，強健體魄，培養(yǎng)良好品德，在成長的道路上不斷取得新的成績。今年恰逢中國建國70周年，陳校長勉勵全體教師以此為契機，繼承發(fā)揚55中人凝聚、和諧、奉獻的精神品質(zhì)，腳踏實地地迎接新的機遇和挑戰(zhàn)。

　　The opening ceremony was hosted by Director Tian Jieping from the International Students Section. Principle Chen Hong gave a speech on behalf of the school. In her speech, Principle Chen affirmed the achievements of the school in its construction of the IB curriculum, international education, and the promotion of traditional Chinese culture during the last semester. She raised hopes for all the students and encouraged them to establish precise goals, cultivate good moral character, and continue striving towards new achievements on the road of life. This year marks the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. Principle Chen encouraged all teachers to take this opportunity to carry forward 55 school's spirit of cohesion, harmony and dedication, and to meet new opportunities and sensible challenges.

　　伴隨著現(xiàn)場師生雷鳴般的掌聲，楊瑩老師宣讀了上學(xué)年優(yōu)秀學(xué)生獎、成績優(yōu)秀獎、獎學(xué)金獲得者名單。

　　Accompanied by the thunderous applause of teachers and students’, Yang Ying read the year’s award for the best student, achievement award, and scholarship recipients.

　　陳紅校長與王慧波書記為受表彰的同學(xué)頒獎，并鼓勵他們珍惜榮譽，再接再厲，以自己的實際行動，在以后的學(xué)習(xí)和生活中甘當(dāng)表率，再創(chuàng)佳績。

　　Principal Chen and Secretary Wang Huibo recognized the students and encouraged them to cherish the honor, make persistent efforts with their own practical actions and in further study, becoming an example to other.

　　隨后，獎金學(xué)獲得者巢艾迪（美國）作為優(yōu)秀學(xué)生代表發(fā)言，她分享了自己有效的學(xué)習(xí)經(jīng)驗與學(xué)習(xí)心得，誠摯感謝學(xué)校的培養(yǎng)與老師們的幫助，鼓勵在場的同學(xué)們努力學(xué)習(xí)，在新學(xué)年取得更大的進步。

　　Later, Lydia Dora Allio (USA), winner of the prize, spoke as the representative of ‘outstanding students’. She shared her effective learning experience and sincerely thanked the school's training and teachers' help, and encouraged the students present to study hard and make greater progress in the new academic year.

　　法制宣傳作為“開學(xué)第一課”是開學(xué)典禮必不可少的環(huán)節(jié)，馬敏老師向同學(xué)們詳細生動地介紹了外國留學(xué)生在中國生活期間應(yīng)該了解的法制法規(guī)，以及安全注意事項，提高同學(xué)們的安全意識。

　　Legal procedures was the first lesson of the term; it is an indispensable part of the opening ceremony. Teacher Ma Min thoroughly introduced students to the details of the laws and regulations for foreign students in China, giving detailed explanations regarding security considerations that will improve students’ safety awareness.

　　外教MC老師則細致入微地講解了校規(guī)校紀，鼓勵同學(xué)們養(yǎng)成良好習(xí)慣，規(guī)范言行舉止，做文明學(xué)生、努力構(gòu)建和諧活力校園，形成優(yōu)良校風(fēng)校紀。

　　Teacher MC explained the school rules and regulations in detail, encouraging students to develop good habits, regulate their words and deeds, be civilized, and strive to build a harmonious and energetic campus, forming a good, disciplined school spirit.

　　為了樹立良好學(xué)風(fēng)，培養(yǎng)嚴謹創(chuàng)新的治學(xué)精神，外教Carlyn老師就“學(xué)術(shù)誠實”專題為同學(xué)們帶來了生動的一課，她用生動的案例向大家傳授了在學(xué)習(xí)過程中如何捍衛(wèi)學(xué)術(shù)誠實，并勉勵同學(xué)們在未來的成長中培養(yǎng)追求真理的科學(xué)精神和誠實守信的學(xué)習(xí)態(tài)度。

　　In order to establish good study habits when doing research, teacher Carlyn gave a vivid lesson themed "academic honesty" to the students. She taught the students the process of learning how to defend academic honesty, and encouraging student growth in the future in their pursuit of the scientific spirit of truth and honesty.

　　最后，在清華大學(xué)讀書的我校畢業(yè)生林優(yōu)佳（日本）回到校園和外籍教師Milligan一起為師生們呈現(xiàn)了一次關(guān)于“多元文化”的精彩演講，他們用深入淺出、詼諧幽默的語言，講述了自己在校園多遠文化氛圍中學(xué)習(xí)、成長的故事，用生動的實例向同學(xué)們傳達了對多元文化的包容、學(xué)習(xí)能力就是未來的核心競爭力。

　　Finally, our school graduate HAYASHI YUKA(Japan), who studies in Tsinghua University, returned to our campus for the teachers and students, accompanied by Mr. Milligan. They presented a wonderful lecture about "multiculturalism", using simple and humorous language; they told a story of the depth of campus’ cultural, conveying examples of multicultural tolerance, and the ability to learn being the core competitiveness of the future.

　　新的學(xué)期，是新的起點、新的旅程！我們?nèi)w師生將以飽滿的熱情，迎接新學(xué)期的工作，不負新時代，不忘初心，砥礪前行，譜寫我校國際教育美好的新篇章！

　　The new semester, a new starting point, a new journey! All of our teachers and students will welcome the new semester work with enthusiasm, live up to the new era, remain steadfast with their goals and intention, forge ahead, and write a beautiful new chapter in our schools international!
