　　Everybody in this country should learn how to program a computer…… Because it teaches you how to think.

　　The final results of the ACSL Competition – Preliminary Round have been recently released. Nearly 1500 students from 539 top-level schools, including international schools, participated in the Chinese round of this prestigious international competition, but only 988 students (divided into 4 categories: Elementary, Junior, Intermediate and Advanced) qualified for the finals.

　　2020-2021 年美國(guó)計(jì)算機(jī)科學(xué)聯(lián)賽預(yù)賽(American Computer Science League)成績(jī)?cè)诮诠?，此次比賽中?guó)賽區(qū)來(lái)自 539 所重點(diǎn)中小學(xué)和國(guó)際學(xué)校的將近 1500 名同學(xué)參賽，其中 988 名優(yōu)秀選手（小學(xué)、初級(jí)、中級(jí)、高級(jí)）進(jìn)入決賽第二輪。

　　The American Computer Science League (ACSL)was born in the Silicon Valley of the United States and has a 40-year history. It is a long-standing computer programming competition for American elementary and middle school students. The competition has been also officially certified and recommended bythe National League of Secondary School Principals NASSP and the American Association of Teachers of Computer Science and received support from worldwide high-tech & informatics companies such as Google, Adobe, No Starch Press, O'Reilly Media, Pearson, Pragmatic Bookshelf, and Wolfram.

　　美國(guó)計(jì)算機(jī)科學(xué)聯(lián)賽起源于美國(guó)硅谷，擁有 40 年的歷史，是美國(guó)歷史悠久的中小學(xué)生計(jì)算機(jī)編程賽事之一。該比賽同時(shí)獲得了美國(guó)國(guó)家中學(xué)校長(zhǎng)聯(lián)盟 NASSP 與美國(guó)計(jì)算機(jī)科學(xué)教師協(xié)會(huì)的官方認(rèn)證和推薦，同時(shí)獲得了如谷歌、Adobe、No Starch Press、O'Reilly Media、Pearson、Pragmatic Bookshelf、and Wolfram 等著名高科技和教育企業(yè)的支持。

　　The outstanding performance of our students is the result of our top-level curriculum. Starting from last semester, the school has implemented a world-class coding program for our students, and hired Dr. Chen Chen, as the school’s STEAM Program Advisor.

　　By incorporating coding into our daily curriculum our students not only learn coding and programming from an early age, but are also able to show their skills in international competitions. Being able to qualify for the finals of such a prestigious competition after learning coding for just such a short period clearly demonstrates the unparalleled quality of our courses.

　　此次競(jìng)賽我校學(xué)生的優(yōu)秀表現(xiàn)得益于HQIS課程體系上的優(yōu)勢(shì)，本學(xué)期HQIS引入了世界級(jí)的編程團(tuán)隊(duì)，并聘請(qǐng)了金牌教練陳琛博士作為學(xué)校STEAM項(xiàng)目顧問(wèn).

　　編程作為一門必修課融入到了日常課程中，學(xué)生們不僅可以盡早地體驗(yàn)編程課程，還可以在世界編程競(jìng)賽中大展身手，能在這么短的時(shí)間內(nèi)參加競(jìng)賽并且獲得不俗的成績(jī)，師生們的努力有目共睹。

　　Greetings, I am honored to bring you good news: 78% of our students who participated in the ACSL competition successfully qualified for the finals. I am very proud of the outstanding performance of all the students and their teachers because I believe that every student has put in a lot of effort for this competition. 　　I am very happy to know that most of our participating students have successfully qualified. As the instructor, I just want to say that you guys are great! Of course, we can't relax just now. The second round of the competition will take place on February 20th, and I hope everyone will keep working hard and strive to get better results. And for those who did not make it, it’s ok, participating was a fun and enriching experience. I’m sure you can better prepare for the next year!

　　非常高興得知我們大部分參賽學(xué)生都成功晉級(jí)了決賽，作為指導(dǎo)老師我只想說(shuō)，你們都太棒了！當(dāng)然了，現(xiàn)在還不能松懈，第二輪比賽將于2月20日開(kāi)始，大家一定要繼續(xù)加油，爭(zhēng)取保持這樣好的勢(shì)頭，獲得更好的成績(jī)。這次沒(méi)有晉級(jí)的同學(xué)也不必灰心氣餒，咱們重在參與，明年繼續(xù)努力！

　　在HQIS，孩子們?cè)?歲時(shí)就開(kāi)始學(xué)習(xí)編寫編碼命令、調(diào)試和解密代碼行。這門課的價(jià)值主要在于培養(yǎng)孩子邏輯思考和解決問(wèn)題的能力，并鍛煉他們的耐心。

　　有些孩子本來(lái)就喜歡在紙上或iPad上畫圖形，現(xiàn)在把圖形設(shè)計(jì)通過(guò)編程的方式轉(zhuǎn)換到了電腦屏幕上，原先他們做數(shù)學(xué)題可能是口算計(jì)算器，現(xiàn)在我們教他們通過(guò)編程讓計(jì)算機(jī)來(lái)做重復(fù)或復(fù)雜的數(shù)學(xué)題。無(wú)論課堂案例還是課后作業(yè)學(xué)校采用的都是Prolem-based Learning，經(jīng)過(guò)一段時(shí)間的系統(tǒng)學(xué)習(xí)，不管學(xué)生學(xué)習(xí)進(jìn)度快慢，最終都會(huì)看到進(jìn)步和成果。
