Who is LU XUN? Why is he one of the most educated Chinese writers? 1.Do you think Lu Xun is an educated man and the greatest writer in modern China? Why or why not? (300 words, Due on 4.7) 2.How was Lu Xun educated? What education system did he come from? How did education influence him? Who is his counterpart in western culture? (300 words, Due on 4.8)
Emily Fang :What is education? What makes a person educated? Are skilled artisans like Grandpa Amu(阿木爺爺)and Liziqi(李子柒)with no formal schooling educated? Is a wise grandmother with eighty years of life experience but only a third-grade education, educated? Is Bill Gates, who dropped out of Harvard as a junior to found Microsoft, more or less educated and knowledgeable than his classmates who stayed in school? When we are seeking education and studying in NCSH, what are we looking for? Who do you think is the most educated person on the planet and how does he or she influence your life? This field trip will inspire you to think more about the purpose of education.
Jason We, pre-AP English students went to the Lu Xun Memorial Hall in Shanghai. Seeing Lu Xun's achievements and anecdotes, we now have more recognition and admiration of different lights toward him and deepened understanding of how education influences people. Education like this field trip can ignite the imagination, inspire the mind, and instill a love of learning. We not only learn writing skills, but also acquire stories and quotes of influential people like Lu Xun. In addition, the class is nurturing us a sense of knowing who we are and what we will do. Education is not only for the individuals but it spills its benefits to the whole society. I never had such an English class that focuses on critical thinking and ideas rather than grammar, but it seems that all work in the same way to increase our competence of writing better essays. Therefore, it is an inspiring class for me and my classmates. I am looking forward to a new topic to learn.
