　　In the face of such an excellent report card, we spoke with David Scoggins, Coordinator of the IB Programme at MacDuffie Shanghai, who shared with us the school's experience in developing the IB programme.

　　Naturally, everyone here at Shanghai MacDuffie is delighted with our students’ IB DP results in the May 2021 session; all of them scored above the global average with 40% of students gaining a total of 40 or more, putting them in the top 15% world-wide. This reflects the high quality of teaching and learning in our IB DP, but also demonstrates how well integrated it is within the three-program system we run at Shanghai MacDuffie Bilingual High School.

　　我獲得了“元認(rèn)知”的能力。通過學(xué)習(xí)6大板塊的課程，我不但學(xué)習(xí)了IB的學(xué)科知識(shí)，通過高強(qiáng)度的IA，EE，TOK學(xué)習(xí)和寫作，我更學(xué)習(xí)了“如何學(xué)習(xí)”的方法論。，具體知識(shí)也許會(huì)在某刻不再重要，但構(gòu)建知識(shí)體系的能力和邏輯思維、批判性思考會(huì)使我終生受益。

　　I gained the ability of metacognition. Through the six courses, I not only learned the subject knowledge of IB, but also learned the methodology of "how to learn" through intensive IA, EE and TOK learning and writing. Specific knowledge may not be important for a while, but my ability to build a knowledge system, logical thinking and critical thinking will benefit me all my life.

　　最難忘的事情就是我化學(xué)EE實(shí)驗(yàn)的準(zhǔn)備過程。我在著手準(zhǔn)備EE論文的實(shí)驗(yàn)前，已經(jīng)和老師溝通并否定了三個(gè)EE題目，才最終確定了實(shí)驗(yàn)主題。我申請(qǐng)了寒假留校，并趕在過年前做完了實(shí)驗(yàn)，這段時(shí)間里我天天通宵達(dá)旦，在學(xué)校的化學(xué)實(shí)驗(yàn)室實(shí)驗(yàn)與配置溶液。感謝這段時(shí)間里學(xué)校領(lǐng)導(dǎo)的支持，化學(xué)老師曹冬梅也不分晝夜，給我專業(yè)的建議，我才能順利把EE實(shí)驗(yàn)做完，寫出EE論文，并最終取得了A的成績。

　　The most memorable thing was the preparation process of my EE chemistry experiment. Before I started to prepare for the experiment of EE paper, I had communicated with my teacher and rejected three EE topics before I finally decided on the experiment theme. I applied for a stay in school during the winter vacation and finished the experiment before the Chinese New Year. During this period, I stayed up all night every day to do experiments and configure solutions in the chemistry laboratory of the school. Thanks to the support from the school leaders during this period, my chemistry teacher Cao Dongmei also gave me professional advice day and night, so that I could successfully complete the EE experiment, write the EE paper, and finally get an A grade.

　　What kind of help does the school provide when you have difficulties in your studies?

　　When students face the triple pressure of revision, IA, and EE, they have to adopt some extreme time planning. The school leaders paid attention to and affirmed our requirements, and provided flexible and humanized help in school policies, so that the students could complete these "impossible" tasks in the limited time in the third year of high school.

　　How has your IB study improved you?

　　我最大的進(jìn)步是獲得了“時(shí)間管理”能力。IB學(xué)生需要完成六門學(xué)科、八篇論文，和CAS課外活動(dòng)任務(wù)。如此豐富的課程設(shè)置促使我不斷地優(yōu)化時(shí)間安排，高效學(xué)習(xí)，做有意義的事情。這使我從一個(gè)依賴父母的孩子轉(zhuǎn)變成一個(gè)思維獨(dú)立、能有效權(quán)衡利弊的成年人，為我未來的人生奠定基礎(chǔ)。

　　My biggest improvement has been the ability to "manage time". IB students are required to complete six subjects, eight papers, and CAS assignments. Such a rich set of courses urges me to constantly optimize my time arrangement, study efficiently and do meaningful things. This transformed me from a dependent child into an independent thinking adult who can effectively weigh the pros and cons, and laid the foundation for my future life.

　　刺前的幫助。楊老師大年初一還在和我分析討論EE論文細(xì)節(jié)，這讓我體會(huì)到艱難的論文路上來自師長的溫暖。十幾稿的修改中，每一稿的每個(gè)字、每個(gè)標(biāo)點(diǎn)老師都認(rèn)真地提出修改意見，最后我的EE拿到了A。另外，宋老師經(jīng)常凌晨仍會(huì)在微信上為我們解答。為了我們能有良好的心態(tài)迎接考試，宋老師還在臨考前給我們準(zhǔn)備了“戰(zhàn)前動(dòng)員餐”，讓我們有了背水一戰(zhàn)的勇氣。

　　What I remember most and appreciate most is the help of my Chinese teacher Yang Wei and my business teacher Song Annie before the final exam. On the first day of the New Year, Miss Yang was still analyzing and discussing the details of the EE paper with me, which made me feel the warmth from the teachers on the difficult road of the paper. During the revision of more than ten drafts, the teacher carefully put forward suggestions on every word and every punctuation mark in each draft, and finally I got an A for EE. In addition, Song teacher often early morning will still be on WeChat for us to answer. In order for us to have a good attitude to meet the exam, the song teacher also prepared "key points” for us before the exam, so that we have the courage to fight the last battle.

　　要求非常高，且做實(shí)驗(yàn)時(shí)正值寒假。學(xué)校為我們?cè)诤匍_放實(shí)驗(yàn)室，置配了經(jīng)驗(yàn)豐富的實(shí)驗(yàn)室管理員保證實(shí)驗(yàn)安全并安排了宿舍、食堂，讓我們安心完成實(shí)驗(yàn)。

　　The thing I appreciate the most is the logistical support the school has provided. Physical chemistry IA experiment has very high requirements for equipment and medicine, and it was winter vacation when the experiment was done. The school opened the laboratory for us during the winter vacation, equipped experienced laboratory administrators to ensure the safety of the experiment, and arranged dormitories and dining halls for us to complete the experiment at ease.

　　未來準(zhǔn)備就讀哪所大學(xué)？

　　Which university will you attend in the future?

　　我能選擇的學(xué)校非常多，目前在多倫多大學(xué)和倫敦大學(xué)學(xué)院之間做最終決定。

　　I have a lot of options to choose from and the final decision is between the University of Toronto and University College London.
