本學(xué)期家長(zhǎng)心理沙龍活動(dòng)的中西組合新模式受到了家長(zhǎng)們的充分認(rèn)可,在中西方文化的融合中,逐漸提升家長(zhǎng)的心理品質(zhì)。下半學(xué)期的三場(chǎng)心理沙龍主題分別為“成長(zhǎng)與分離”、“陪伴式成長(zhǎng)”和“常見(jiàn)心理疾病小常識(shí)”,在活動(dòng)中家長(zhǎng)們進(jìn)行了充分的討論交流,既清晰了認(rèn)知,又打開(kāi)了思路。
自從孩子進(jìn)入七德,許多家長(zhǎng)便開(kāi)始思考關(guān)于“成長(zhǎng)與分離”的問(wèn)題,但不得要領(lǐng)。我們的沙龍活動(dòng)幫助家長(zhǎng)清晰模糊的認(rèn)知,真正懂得青年人的獨(dú)立需要學(xué)習(xí),學(xué)習(xí)需要空間,放手成長(zhǎng)是讓青年人成長(zhǎng)的基礎(chǔ)條件,這是對(duì)子女的教養(yǎng)進(jìn)入到一個(gè)新的階段,家長(zhǎng)們可以再次擁有比較自由的生活,做一些自己感興趣的事情。有家長(zhǎng)如此感慨:“高中三年,我們家長(zhǎng)應(yīng)該和自己的孩子在思想上、行動(dòng)上為即將開(kāi)始的新生活做準(zhǔn)備?!?/p>
“陪伴式成長(zhǎng)”這個(gè)話題每學(xué)年都會(huì)作為家長(zhǎng)沙龍活動(dòng)的一個(gè)重要主題,因?yàn)檫M(jìn)入高中后親子關(guān)系明顯變化,讓很多家長(zhǎng)茫然無(wú)措,不知用怎樣的方式與孩子相處才能讓彼此舒服。其實(shí),面對(duì)拒絕交流的孩子,可以嘗試用一些溝通技巧,比如當(dāng)孩子述說(shuō)一些學(xué)校的日?,嵤聲r(shí),家長(zhǎng)應(yīng)該表現(xiàn)出同理心,而不是對(duì)孩子某種不當(dāng)言行主觀地進(jìn)行批評(píng)或表示不滿。遇到孩子愿意暢所欲言的場(chǎng)合,要學(xué)會(huì)傾聽(tīng)而不隨意打斷,有家長(zhǎng)如此頓悟:“這樣讓孩子在完整講述的過(guò)程中感受到我們家長(zhǎng)是開(kāi)明而包容的,進(jìn)而更愿意分享自己身邊那些開(kāi)心或不開(kāi)心的事,親子關(guān)系自然也就融洽了。”
關(guān)于“常見(jiàn)心理疾病小常識(shí)”這一場(chǎng)沙龍活動(dòng),家長(zhǎng)們一起學(xué)習(xí)并了解了關(guān)于焦慮情緒與焦慮癥、抑郁情緒與抑郁癥的相關(guān)知識(shí)。面對(duì)這類現(xiàn)象,家長(zhǎng)需要耐心陪伴,不用太多安慰的言語(yǔ),適當(dāng)表達(dá)對(duì)孩子的信心。有家長(zhǎng)如此釋然:“焦慮癥也好,抑郁癥也罷,或許已是現(xiàn)代社會(huì)較為普遍的心理現(xiàn)象,科學(xué)系統(tǒng)的治療是對(duì)待這些心理疾病的正確態(tài)度和方式;而父母的陪伴更是不可或缺的。”
為了讓家長(zhǎng)們更清楚地了解IB藝術(shù)對(duì)大學(xué)申請(qǐng)的作用,Mr. Katz給有需求的家長(zhǎng)開(kāi)設(shè)了一個(gè)專場(chǎng),給到了非常專業(yè)的有針對(duì)性的指導(dǎo)。對(duì)此,Mr. Katz自己做了一個(gè)很好的反思。

一所優(yōu)質(zhì)的國(guó)際學(xué)校中很重要的組成部分是家長(zhǎng)教育,由于我們的大多數(shù)學(xué)生來(lái)自體制內(nèi),他們的家長(zhǎng)對(duì)孩子在七德的生活充滿好奇,也對(duì)如何幫助他們適應(yīng)國(guó)際課程和海外大學(xué)有很多問(wèn)題。我和心理咨詢師王晶老師共同主持的家長(zhǎng)沙龍,提供給家長(zhǎng)機(jī)會(huì)暢談他們和孩子面臨的社交或?qū)W術(shù)方面的問(wèn)題與挑戰(zhàn)。我和王老師負(fù)責(zé)發(fā)起討論、給予建議,家長(zhǎng)們也可以互相學(xué)習(xí)。有些沙龍針對(duì)特定年級(jí),有些則面向所有年級(jí),討論特定話題。
An important component of a high functioning international school is parent education. Since most of our students come from the local education system, many of their parents have lots of questions related to their children’s life at QD and how they can help their children adjust to international high school and college overseas. Our parent salons, led by our social emotional teacher, Ms. Wang and I, give parents a chance to chat about different social and academic questions and challenges facing them and their children. Ms. Wang and I are there to lead discussions and to give our advice. Parents can also learn from each other. Some salons have been targeted for particular grade levels. Some have been for mixed grade levels focusing on particular topics.

This last month’s salon was on the topic of art and college applications. Parents that attended included a few whose children might apply to art schools, but the majority of parents had questions about how the arts can help their children and help with college applications when they are applying to comprehensive colleges. We discussed students using art portfolios as part of their application materials even if they are not applying to art schools. QD is a high school that values exposing all students to the arts, no matter what the student’s future intended major is. In fact, we have a lot of evidence that for math and science students, showing accomplishments and interest in the arts is something that top colleges appreciate. At our salon discussion on this topic, parents were able to ask questions and think about arts course selection and activities for their own children.
